Jessica Martins

President
Jessica has managed her family business in Real Estate and Commercial Property for 15 years and has invented and patented products worldwide since the age of 11 years old. She has been an entrepreneur and founder of Hero Artists & Entertainment and an executive for 12 years in both the Canadian and US entertainment industry.

Jessica has managed her family business in Real Estate and Commercial Property for 15 years and has invented and patented products worldwide since the age of 11 years old.  She has been an entrepreneur and founder of Hero Artists & Entertainment and an executive for 12 years in both the Canadian and US entertainment industry.

She has produced films such as EOne’s FORSAKEN (starring Donald Sutherland, Keifer Sutherland & Demi Moore), Netflix Original KISS & CRY (starring Sarah Fisher, Chantal Kreviazuk), and recently Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate’s THE LAST FULL MEASURE (starring 8 Academy Award actors including Christopher Plummer, Samuel L Jackson, Ed Harris, William Hurt, Peter Fonda, to name a few), and is currently working on her next set of films including a musical biopic in partnership with Atlantic Records and the Nederlander Organization,  a UK- Canada co-production with Oscar award-winning Jim Sheridan, as well as a Mexico- Canada production. 

 In the digital space, she has packaged videogame and VR projects for Ubisoft, Vice, Rockstar Games, and EA.  She is currently working with the Omniverse team on the Spacewalk VR project as an executive producer.  Jessica sits on the advisory board of TILTIFY,  a live streaming charity fundraising platform who is in partnership with Twitch and Tik Tok. She also sits on the board of directors on the non profit organization “STAY AT HOME HEROES”. Further, She is a member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, Women in Film and Television, the EIC, and the Women’s Executive Network (WXN).

Benvie is a well-known financier, deal maker and serial entrepreneur. Robert deals with a lot of significant money transactions while understanding the sometimes confusing world of investments and company restructuring while continuously thinking about how to bring original yet safe investments for his fund and clients around the world.

Over the last 25 years, Robert has shaped and has been shaped by every aspect of the banking, technology and the business world: (venture capital markets, credit, corporate, investments, on-line, marketing, and restructuring) all tied to his success as a diversified business mind.

Robert has started and holds financial interests in dozens of companies, including Portable Technologies, OEM Systems, State of Art Centre, Infotech and more.

Robert serves on the Board of Directors of Scene Capital Corp (President & CEO), Scene Venture Group (CEO), Healthy Fit Foods Canada Inc. (CEO), and Elithea Sciences (President).

 

 

 

Chris Hatton

Christopher Hatton joined BenV Capital in 2019. Prior to joining, Christopher supported a cannabis venture company. In this role, he led many due diligence efforts, provided Licensed Producer (LP) application expertise, as well as cannabis industry analysis with a focus on legal compliance with Health Canada Regulations.

Christopher Hatton joined BenV Capital in 2019. Prior to joining, Christopher supported a cannabis venture company. In this role, he led many due diligence efforts, provided Licensed Producer (LP) application expertise, as well as cannabis industry analysis with a focus on legal compliance with Health Canada Regulations. During his time spent working in the cannabis space, Christopher co-founded a consulting portfolio company structuring transactions to establish Micro Cultivation facilities for its clients and providing sales agreements with Licensed Producers (LPs).

Christopher works closely with Robert Benvie, CEO of BenVCapital, in overseeing the company’s business operations. Before entering the cannabis and venture capital space, Mr. Hatton spent time working in the public sector developing his skills in Litigation and Legal Research. Mr. Hatton completed both his undergraduate studies in criminology and political science (Cum Laude) and his law degree at the University of Ottawa in French.

Cédric Desfossés

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

With a strong background in telecommunications and I.T. , having worked with companies like Bell Canada and TekSavvy Solutions Inc., Cédric founded Hostbros Network in 2014 a B2B company that builds custom IT solutions. Hostbros Network manages projects of various types such as e-commerce, SaaS, CRM, ERP and more.

Cédric Desfossés

Cedric Desfosses has over eight years of experience in server management, customer service and sales. With a strong background in telecommunications and I.T., Cedric has served as the principal web content developer and manager for a Licensed Producer (LP), as well as a consulting portfolio company structuring transactions to establish Micro Cultivation facilities.

Cedric Desfosses joined BenV Capital in mid 2019. Before this, M. Desfosses has worked with companies like Bell Canada and TekSavvy Solutions Inc., honing his skills as a top-tier developer. Cédric founded Hostbros Network in 2014, a B2B company that builds custom IT solutions. Hostbros Network manages projects of various types such as e-commerce, SaaS, CRM, ERP and more. Cédric is a serial entrepreneur that leverages new edge technologies in different aspect of his business.

Cedric is fluently bilingual and thus works in both official languages.

Luc Proulx

Head of Research & Development

Luc studied in mechanical engineering (specialized in project management) at the École Polytechnique de Montréal. Entrepreneur at heart, he started working in the business world while still at university as a franchisee of Sweet Factory and Parfumerie Dans un jardin. During these 6 years of experience as a franchisee, he built and operated six points of sale, gaining a lot of experience in management, organization and work methodology.

Luc Proulx

Head of Research & Development

Luc studied in mechanical engineering (specialized in project management) at the École Polytechnique de Montréal. Entrepreneur at heart, he started working in the business world while still at university as a franchisee of Sweet Factory and Parfumerie Dans un jardin. During these 6 years of experience as a franchisee, he built and operated six points of sale, gaining a lot of experience in management, organization and work methodology. 

M. Proulx also worked as a financial analyst at Air Transat in the ground service department, in order to structure all the contractual information for the various airport fee agreements. It was in 1996 that he accepted a position as technical advisor for SR&ED at Novafisc. After only 15 months, he took in charge the SR&ED claims department for the SME sector as well as the representation of all the department’s files with government authorities. In 2001, he founded Inovex Conseils inc. with his partner and became its Vice-President. Inovex is a member of l’APFF (Association en Planification Fiscale et Financière). Since the creation of Inovex Conseils in 2001, Luc Proulx has been in charge of operations and the representation of various files with the tax authorities. With over 20 years of audit expertise, he quickly and clearly grasps the challenges of claims and the evolving criteria of tax authorities in terms of claims for SR&ED tax credits. 

For more than 8 years, Luc Proulx has been Vice-President of Select Global International (SGI), a company working in the training of fighter pilots on simulators. Recently, Luc obtained training and his diploma, on the “Production of cannabis for medical or recreational purposes – Good Production Practices”, with the best experts in the field.
